Helping Your Child Stay Organized, Focused, and Confident in Daily Routines

Some children have a hard time keeping track of their belongings, starting homework without a fight, following directions, or finishing tasks without losing focus. Your child may be bright, capable, and creative, yet everyday expectations still feel harder than they should. If that sounds familiar, our team is here to help.

At Infinity & Beyond Pediatric Therapy, we help your child build the focus, planning skills, organization, and emotional control they need to feel successful at home and beyond. Our occupational therapists use individualized, play-based sessions to strengthen the skills behind daily routines and give your family practical tools to support smoother days.

What Are Executive Functioning Skills?

Executive functioning refers to a set of cognitive skills that help your child manage their thoughts, actions, and emotions. These skills are essential for organization, problem-solving, decision-making, and completing daily tasks.

Children with executive functioning challenges may struggle because their brains process information differently, not because they are lazy, unmotivated, or unwilling. With the right support, they can build strategies that make daily life easier and more predictable.

Common Signs of Executive Functioning Challenges

Children with executive functioning difficulties may experience:

  • Trouble staying focused or shifting attention
  • Difficulty starting tasks, especially non-preferred ones
  • Challenges with planning, organizing, or completing multi-step activities
  • Difficulty following directions or remembering information
  • Trouble managing time or estimating how long a task will take
  • Emotional regulation challenges or frustration during transitions
  • Difficulty keeping track of materials, assignments, or personal belongings
  • Challenges with problem-solving or flexible thinking

How Occupational Therapy Can Help with Executive Functioning Skills

Occupational therapy helps children build the cognitive, motor, and sensory foundations they need to stay organized, focused, and confident throughout the day. At Infinity & Beyond, we tailor each session to your child’s needs and use evidence-based techniques such as:

  • Masgutova Neurosensorimotor Reflex Integration (MNRI®) to support reflex development, body awareness, postural control, and the underlying motor patterns that influence attention, emotional regulation, and planning.
  • Neurodevelopmental Treatment (NDT) to improve your child’s ability to plan and carry out movements, organize their body for tasks, manage transitions, and stay regulated during daily routines.
  • Play-based executive functioning activities to strengthen working memory, impulse control, flexible thinking, and problem-solving through games and hands-on challenges.

Our therapists also collaborate closely with families to give you practical tools you can easily use at home to support smoother routines, homework time, and school participation.
