Occupational Therapy for Your Child
OT Help Is on the Way
Did your doctor or another healthcare professional recommend occupational therapy (OT) for your child? Do you (or your doctor) have concerns about your child’s physical, emotional, developmental, or learning abilities?
If so, you may feel worried, stressed, or concerned. These are common emotions many parents feel when a child has or may have a new or unexpected diagnosis.
Whatever you’re feeling, know that other parents have walked this journey before you. Moreover, Infinity and Beyond is here to help you and your child.
Occupational Therapy for Kids
You may wonder, “What the heck is occupational therapy?” After all, doesn’t the word “occupational” suggest someone’s work life? Your preschool or school-age child is much too young to be employed!
In this case, your child’s “job” is to gain the foundational motor, sensory, and regulatory skills that enhance their lives. For children, occupations may include self-care (dressing, eating, toileting), school-related tasks (coloring, cutting, writing, attending to tasks), social interactions, navigating environments safely, and, most importantly, play! We believe in utilizing a child-centered, whole-body approach to provide each individual with a strong foundation for all daily life skills.
